City tour of Cuzco visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. On the way back, pass by the Hatunrumiyoc Street where you can appreciate the famous Twelve-angled stone. Then, drive out of the city to visit the Inca sites of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, built strategically on a hill overlooking Cusco; famous for its enormous carved stones joined with astounding precision to form the outer walls. Some of these stones stand over 9m / 30ft tall and weight over 350 tons.
Walking towards the highest point in the Inca Trail where you will have an unbelievable panoramic view of the whole area and will observe different types of microclimates. After a 3 hours walk you will reach the first pass, named Warmiwañiusca or Dead Woman's Pass, at approximately 4,200 m.a.s.l. Here, you will have a tremendous feeling of achievement mixed with relief on reaching the top.
Have a very early start to arrive in time for sunrise at Machupicchu. After a one hour walk through the forest towards the Inti Punku or the Gate of the Sun, also known as the Entrance Gate to Machupicchu, where you will have the most impressive panoramic view of the citadel. Upon arrival at Machupicchu, three-hours guided tour around the citadel, visiting the main sites and monuments. After the tour you will have free time to wander around, then you will meet with the rest of the group to drive by bus down to Aguas Calientes.
We will start a 3½ miles hike to Cocococha oxbow lake. On the way we will observe exotic plants and insects, colorful butterflies and birds, monkeys and, with luck, perhaps even some of the large mammals. At the lake a hide and canoes will be available for a ride around it watching the giant river otters and the wildlife on the shoreline.

Day 1: Arrival LIMA

Assistance on your arrival in Lima and transfer to your selected hotel. Free time to rest and prepare for starting your trip around this magical country. Overnight.


Day 2: LIMA / CUSCO - City Tour + 4 Ruins (B)

Early in the morning, transfer to airport to take a flight to Cusco. Assistance on arrival in Cusco and transfer to your selected hotel. Free time to take a short rest to be acclimatized to the altitude. In the afternoon, city tour of Cuzco visiting the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Temple of the Sun or Korikancha. On the way back, pass by the Hatunrumiyoc Street where you can appreciate the famous Twelve-angled stone. Day 3: Cusco - Chilca - Wayllabamba (B)(L)(D)

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco very early in the morning, to take bus to the city of Chilca to begin your trek along the Inca Trail to Machupicchu. After approximately three hours walking you will stop for lunch. Then you will continue walking towards your first camp at Wayllabamba, on the way you will have a guided tour of the archaeological complex of Llactapata. Dinner and overnight in tents at the campsite.

Day 4: Wayllabamba - Warmiwañusca - Pacaymayo (B)(L)(D)

After breakfast, the toughest part of the trail begin, walking towards the highest point in the Inca Trail where you will have an unbelievable panoramic view of the whole area and will observe different types of microclimates. After a 3 hours walk you will reach the first pass, named Warmiwañiusca or Dead Woman's Pass, at approximately 4,200 m.a.s.l. Here, you will have a tremendous feeling of achievement mixed with relief on reaching the top. After lunch you will continue your walking down to Pacaymayo where you will camp and have dinner.

Day 5: Pacaymayo - Puya Patamarka - Wiñay Huayna (B)(L)(D)

After breakfast start the descent towards the second most important pass of the trail at 3,850 m.a.s.l. having a guided visit at the archaeological complex of Runkurakay and the Inca citadel of Sayacmarca. Continue your trekking towards Puya Patamarka (Cloud-level town), another important archaeological monument, where lunch will be served. After a short break you will continue walking to Wiñay Huayna (Forever Young) for a guided visit of this impressive archaeological complex with a spectacular setting. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 6: Wiñay Huayna - Machupicchu - Cusco (B)

After breakfast, have a very early start to arrive in time for sunrise at Machupicchu. After a one hour walk through the forest towards the Inti Punku or the Gate of the Sun, also known as the Entrance Gate to Machupicchu, where you will have the most impressive panoramic view of the citadel. After the tour you will have free time to wander around, then you will meet with the rest of the group to drive by bus down to Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon, transfer by train to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco transfer to your hotel. Overnight.

Day 7: CUSCO / PUERTO MALDONADO and journey to the lodge (B)(L)(D)

Reception at the airport, transfer to our office to prepare for the river trip and boarding of our motorized dugout canoes. Depending of the hour we will have either a box lunch on the boat or lunch at arrival to the lodge. During the trip we may see caymans, turtles and waterfowl, etc. After approx. 3 hours we will arrive at the lodge where we will be received with a welcome drink. We are now deep inside pristine rainforest and surrounded by its sounds. After a short rest we will have a short hike to a small lagoon and return in time to enjoy a jungle sunset at Sunset Point. After returning to the lodge we will board again the canoe for a short night ride to spot caymans on the river banks with flashlights. After returning we will have dinner, at which the Resident Naturalists (RNs) and guides will be available to answer questions or brief us on the Amazon rainforest.

Day 8: Cocococha lake (B)(L)(D)

After an early breakfast, guided by one of our guides, we will start a 3½ miles hike to Cocococha oxbow lake. On the way we will observe exotic plants and insects, colorful butterflies and birds, monkeys and, with luck, perhaps even some of the large mammals. At the lake a hide and canoes will be available for a ride around it watching the giant river otters and the wildlife on the shoreline. Return to the lodge for a late lunch. Afternoon free for relaxing or independent activities. Dinner.

Day 9: Return to PUERTO MALDONADO / Out (B)

A Very early wake up and breakfast. Boarding of the canoe to return to Puerto Maldonado watching an unforgettable dawn on the Tambopata river. Transfer to the airport for return flight. End of services.
