The Sacred Valley has become one of the most important tourist centers in the country. Apart from the incomparable historic wealth, the area of Urubamba offers infinitive possibilities to enjoy for the tourist: trekking, thermal baths, rafts or kayaks rides, paragliding or hang gliding, horsing, climbing, etc. Lately they have developed participating tourist programmes inviting the visitor, for instance, to work in a terrace or collect salt from the salt pools. The Sacred Valley also holds two of the most important handicraft markets of Cusco: Pisac and Chinchero.

In Inca times, the Sacred Valley was an important agricultural center, where the unique large- kernelled corn was and continues to be cultivated. This tours passes through beautiful towns that feature a syncretic blend of cultures, art, and architecture. The tour visits Pisac, Ollantaytambo, and Chinchero, and stops for lunch in the charming riverside town of Urubamba.

We’ll pick you up at your hotel between 8:00 and 8:30 am.

PISAC ARCHEOLOGICAL CENTER

This archeological center is located on the highest part of the mountain above Pisaq, and contains temples, urban areas, and agricultural terraces. The quality of these archeological remains is a testament to the importance of Pisaq in Incan times.



PISAC MARKET

The market of Pisaq is a place full of color and tradition, where you’ll find high quality handicrafts produced by the residents of the area, known as “Piseños”The market occupies the main square of Pisaq, where you will also find the town’s colonial church. The Pisaq market is known for its textiles, ceramics, silver work, and other one-of-a-kind souvenirs.
After visiting the market, we’ll continue to the restaurant in Urubamba where you’ll enjoy a delicious and relaxing buffet lunch.

OLLANTAYTAMBO

This site was a strategic military, agricultural, and religious center, which was responsible for the administration and control of the entire Sacred Valley of the Incas. You’ll be able to observe the large agricultural storage sites and military constructions such as walls and watchtowers. The visit to Ollantaytambo takes approximately an hour and 20 minutes. Ollantaytambo is also notable for being the gateway to Machu Picchu.

CHINCHERO

On the way back to Cusco, you’ll visit Chinchero, a colonial and Incan town with a rich history. Its residents have an artisanal market specializing in beautiful handmade textiles, produced with the same pre-Columbian methods of their ancestors. Here you’ll be able to find beautiful, artisanal pieces of textile artwork.
The Incan culture is alive and well in Chinchero, where residents still wear their colorful traditional dresses, showing the deep roots of the ancient Incan culture, where modern society reaches its boundary.
